The challenge
Steamoji was growing rapidly as a franchise and had outgrown the patchwork of off-the-shelf tools they'd been using. They needed a technology partner who could own the full digital experience across a complex multi-stakeholder product: children using apps in-class, parents tracking progress from their phones, franchisees running their locations, and the head office overseeing everything. No single off-the-shelf product covered this, and the existing tools didn't talk to each other. They needed a team who could commit long-term and build an integrated ecosystem from the ground up.
What we built
We became Steamoji's embedded technology team in 2021 and have been building and evolving their digital ecosystem ever since. We built four interconnected products: a Next.js marketing website with franchise inquiry flows and SEO, a React Native children's learning app deployed on tablets in every franchise location, a parent companion app for progress tracking and class communication, and a web-based franchise CRM that handles scheduling, billing via Stripe, and location reporting for the head office. All four products share a common Node.js API layer and PostgreSQL database, giving head office a single source of truth across the entire franchise network.
About the project
Steamoji brings coding, robotics, and creative technology to children through a franchise model across Canada. We've been their technology partner since 2021 — owning the entire digital footprint. That means a marketing website driving franchise inquiries, a children's in-class learning app, a parent companion app for real-time progress tracking, and a franchise CRM that gives every operator the tools to schedule classes, manage billing, and run their location.

Product Discovery
Embedded with the Steamoji team to map every stakeholder journey — child, parent, franchisee, and head office — and designed a shared data architecture that could serve all four products.

Built the Next.js marketing site with franchise inquiry flows and SEO, and the shared Node.js API and PostgreSQL schema that all products connect to.

Learning App & Parent App
Built the React Native children's learning app for in-class tablet use and the parent companion app for iOS and Android — both connected to the shared API.

Franchise CRM & Ongoing
Delivered the franchise CRM with scheduling, Stripe billing, and multi-location reporting, then transitioned to a managed retainer for continuous product development and iteration.
