The challenge
Teachaway had outgrown their existing recruitment tooling and needed a purpose-built ATS that understood the specific complexities of international teacher hiring: multi-country credential verification, school district procurement requirements, multi-stage review workflows with multiple stakeholders, and HR system integrations that vary by region. Generic ATS products couldn't handle this complexity, and building something custom in-house would take years. They needed a team who could move fast and own the product long-term.
What we built
We architected Teachaway's next-generation platform from scratch in 2025 using Next.js and TypeScript on the frontend, backed by a Node.js API and PostgreSQL database running on AWS. The system includes a candidate-facing job board with smart matching, a full ATS with configurable multi-stage pipelines, employer dashboards with candidate search and collaborative review, a document management system for credential verification, and integrations with school HR and payroll systems. Redis powers real-time notifications and caching. We run the infrastructure, CI/CD, and continue building new features on a product retainer.
About the project
Teachaway connects schools worldwide with qualified international teachers — think LinkedIn meets Workday, purpose-built for global education hiring. We joined in early 2025 to architect and build their next-generation applicant tracking system: candidate pipelines, multi-stage review workflows, employer dashboards, credential verification, and integrations with school HR systems. We own ongoing development, infrastructure, and product iteration.
